Google recently opened it's new Social Networking platform Google+ up to the world. The stats are now in and we can see that Google's latest experiment is working, but is it going to be enough to take out Facebook?
Hitwise is one of the most recognised sources for analytics relating to the web and just recently they released an update on where Google+ now sits amongst the worlds most popular social networks. As you can see from their blog post, Google+ is currently sitting in eighth position just below the fast fading MySpace. This move into the top ten is one Facebook have been fast preparing for, releasing a series of new features and privacy controls to help maintain it's position in the top spot.
For business owners, the idea of having to worry about another social network may seem more like a headache than a welcome addition. Regardless of which way you view it though, there's no denying that a social network platform powered by a company as big as Google is one worth while keeping an eye on. Whether or not it will be a long term success will be up to how many users it can attract and sustain.
